Truth behind the "Acceptance" series

Hey Gorgeous!

Welcome to the blog of Artist Kelly Aiken of Copeley Designs Art, I am so excited to have you all here. I haven't been the best at keeping up with the blog writing weekly, but I did think it was important to share a little more about "The Acceptance Series", and how it came to be.

The process of an artist is a very important step, sometimes more important than the outcome of the art. The only time I would disagree with my own words is for commission work- the goal is, of course, to make the client happy! But when an artist is creating a series- they add emotion, time, and energy into their art, creating for themselves. They usually have a style the want to achieve, and many breakthroughs happen in the studio (and for me that means a lot of happy dancing).

The Acceptance Series has a lot to do with, well, accepting. I moved back to Charlotte this year, eager to let go of some past personal issues, and to tackle a new exciting chapter! While I love my home state of Virginia, this past year was tough living away from the home we made in Charlotte. We moved for a Head Football Coaching opportunity my husband had, and I am so proud of him for taking it. But traveling on the road with Copeley (age 2 is hard) and running the business from another state was physically and mentally exhausting. I am normally an energetic and excited person, and I didn't feel the same. I wasn't myself this past year, stressed and anxious about moving to a new city again and not feeling at home. So as a family, we decided to move back to Charlotte and find happiness again! Through this series, I became much more thankful and grateful "in the now", working through and growing past life situations that were thrown at me the past year.
